  • I remember clearly the incident, living in Waundeg at the time this accident was on the main Ashvale Road, not too sure of the cause of this accident, I thought it was due to the lorry hitting the bridge wall (Old railway bridge from where the photograph was taken) and veering right into the house.
    I believe the Crown Hotel is to the left of the picture, you can just see the angle of the roof (Top left hand corner)

  • This photograph was taken in about 1955. I think the tanker was coming from Merthyr and failed to take the bend before hitting the house that was next to the railway bridge near the Crown Hotel. I can’t prove this but the house could have belonged to Dai Perry, headmaster of Dukestown School.
